Second Life Link added to Second Life Search Toolbar

The very usefull Facebook application that links Second Life with Facebook has been added as a button on the Second Life Search Toolbar. The application is still under development and the maker Fire Centaur promises more to come soon!
I wonder if it will include one of the excellent search options to search inside SL?

This option allows you to CHANGE the default search url in SL.

Manually, in all systems, including Windows, Mac, or Linux. Here are the steps:
- Run Second Life.
- Access the hidden Client menu in Second Life by pressing Ctrl-Alt-D, or Opt-Ctrl-D on a Mac. Click here for more info
- Select the "Debug Settings" menu.
- In the drop-down, select "SearchURLQuery" (also "SearchQueryURL" in a previous release)
- In the text box, change the part of the text before the "? to be the following string:

http://www.MetaverseInk.com/OpenSearch?
```
- If you want, you can also change the "SearchURLDefault" (or "SearchDefaultURL") setting to be
```
http://www.MetaverseInk.com/OpenSearch?
```

Open Search allows you to access multiple search engines in Second Life from the same simple interface. Currently the following search engines are supported:

Metaverse Ink Search supports search for products, designers, notecards, places and land for sale. It lists about 2 million products with images, descriptions, and a link directly to the store. There is also support for scripted vendors. This search engine uses a staff of 14 friendly robots to scan the entire grid twice a week, and has a sophisticated ranking system that is very difficult to fool.
Linden Lab Search "All" search provides access to a static view of information from the SL grid. Highlights include search of places, classifieds, profiles, and the SL wiki.
Google Search ... for the ordinary universe.

The new build-in browser in SL opens up massive opportunities to search in web-based resources out there on the Web.

A simple example, but with huge potential, can be seen at the booth of the booth of the Dreams fair (http://slurl.com/secondlife/Dreams/120/26/25) we now have a box that says: "type your search in chat with /5 "

HEALIA ("The high quality and personalized health search engine"

People can start searching right away, no need to click on something first.
Just say: /5 stroke (for instance)
It displays a blue box (load web page) and opens the build-in browser with the results.

But, that is not all! ;-)

The search is pushed via the web-search of the Healthinfo Island browser toolbar with pre-installed quality health search options (http://healthinfoisland.ourtoolbar.com, still in beta, and constantly in a updating stage.

This results in a webpage INCLUDING a topframe displaying all other searchengines installed in the toolbar.
Patrons can repeat the search with the same query without typing again by clicking on the next search engine in that frame above.

The script that send this chat to the web-url was written by MB Chevalier, who also published a post on his blog about this.
I thank him for taking the time to talk with me about this, write the script and adjusting it to my wishes. ;-)

This new Twitter feature is great for finding more people to
follow because it searches profile information such as name,
location, bio, and url. Come on by and find out if your friends
are already Twittering and you just didn't know it! The search
field is on the right side of Twitter when you sign in:
http://twitter.com, but you can also use the Second Life Search Toolbar any second, no matter where you are on the web, as long as you have your browser on ;-)
I expect them to include the Squawk (SL +Twitter) version soon, this is not searchable right now.....

There are over 650 people who have installed the Second Life Search NETVIBES module into their own Netvibes pages.
The IE and FF Toolbar itself has been downloaded 140 times now in a relatively small period.
And the PR campaign yet has to start! Stats tell me that over a hundred people are using the toolbar on a daily basis. Most used is the search functionality in the more than 25 Sl searchengines ánd the reading of the list of Sl related blogs. My Favourite in the search engines is the Buscopio SecondlifeSearch.
